Purpose
The purpose of the School Uniform Policy is to:
  - provide additional opportunities for increased school safety by
    - decreasing violence and theft among students over designer clothing or expensive sneakers
    - preventing gang members from wearing gang colors and insignias while at school
    - helping school officials to more easily recognize intruders who come to the school
  - improve and expand academic excellence by
    - instilling students with discipline
    - helping parents and students resist peer pressure
    - helping students concentrate on their school work
    - encouraging an improvement in student behavior
    - encouraging a high level of program participation
  - reduce school clothing costs
  - encourage our students to experience a greater sense of school unity and identity

Accessories

Flip flops Not allowed
House slippers Not allowed
Sandals Okay as long as they have straps on the back of the heel
Closed-Toe Shoes Excellent choice. We will require closed-toed shoes in the labs for safety purposes. All shoes need to match the uniform.
Socks If visible, they need to match the uniform
Hats Not allowed; hats worn for winter weather should be stored in lockers
Studded belts Not allowed
Hoodies Okay as long as they are either solid navy blue or white and have no logos other than InTech or USU. Hoodies must come to the waist.
Winter coats Coats will be stored in lockers
Jackets Students may wear jackets to class as long as they conform to the dress code. Students need to wear shirts underneath that also conform to the dress code.
USU Aggie apparel USU apparel is okay as long as it is solid navy blue or white and is either a sweater or a collared shirt
Backpacks Backpacks do not have to be a certain color or style; students will leave them in their lockers
Sweaters Sweaters are okay with or without a collared shirt underneath, as long as the sweater is solid navy blue or white.
Leggings Leggings are allowed as long as they are neutral colors. Even if they have leggings on, students' skirts still need to reach the knee.
