Stephanie Kawamura completed her Bachelor's degrees in Earth Science and Secondary Education, as well as her Master's of Education in Secondary Education, at Weber State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Capella University, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has taught for eight years in math and science and has been a guidance counselor for three years.

She enjoys traveling, particularly to the Philippines, China, Italy, France, and Denmark, and all of the National Parks in Utah. She has two sons, Bryan and Mark.
