Jim Baker grew up in Pocatello, Idaho where he began his 14 years of industrial work experience. He attended Idaho State University as an Engineering Major his freshman year, then transferred to Utah State University. After much contemplation, he changed his major to Engineering and Technology Education to better align with his personal and family goals. He finished his Bachelor's degree at USU in 2006. He then went on to receive additional engineering curriculum training through Project Lead the Way. He has been to “PLTW Boot-camp” every summer for three years in row obtaining the knowledge and understanding needed to teach several rigorous PLTW courses. His PLTW course certifications are: Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Civil Engineering and Architecture. Jim has plans of continuing his formal education with a Master’s degree in Engineering and Technology Education starting the summer of 2009.
Jim has been married to his sweet-heart, Lacey Baker for seventeen years. Together they have one daughter, Whitney, who will be getting her driver’s license this year. He enjoys photography, camping, biking (pedal & motor), spending time with family and friends, and especially geocaching (check it out at geocaching.com). Jim and his family love Cache Valley and are so happy to be part of this great community.
Quote from Jim: “I love this school. I’ve been here since the beginning and I plan to be here until I retire. This school has so much to offer students that really want a head start in college and especially in preparation for engineering degrees. I wish I would have had a school like InTech when I went to high school!”
